Celebrating York’s Gypsy and Traveller Heritage
Просмотров 2,4 тыс.8 месяцев назад
In 2023, as part of our co-produced exhibition, York Museums Trust commissioned York Travellers Trust to produce a film that celebrates their history and heritage through objects and stories that have cultural and historical significance to them. This film was created at Catch Up Club, a weekly meeting of women who come together to cook, make crafts and most importantly catch up! Over two weeks...

    Remarkable discovery, and incredible work by the conservators. However. The first speaker does not come across very well. He’s incredibly dismissive of the unnamed detectorists, and actually claims credit for finding the objects. One wonders if the landowner and the folks who actually found and reported the items were (as the speaker described) “looking incredibly uncomfortable” because they were so put off by his demeanor.

    I did my ancestry and found out my grandfather was a Romany Gypsy. I'm related to the Stanley Gypsys. My mother never told us. She married a policeman. He became a police sergeant. My grandfather changed his second name when he left the Gypsy community. That's why it took so long to find our true heritage. Strangely I have always been interested in fortune telling.?

    People don’t dislike travelers … BUT they do dislike there stuff being stolen , mess and rubbish being left about and thrown in the streets they call home. (Just my personal observation 😉)

    • @jayjayn007
      @jayjayn007 8 месяцев назад

      Did you not get anything from the video itself, than a slating comment on the travelling community. I personally have seen people treat settled travellers badly, simply based on a surname. Ones who aren't doing what you're say they do. I do know of some who stole from my family, but we have to avoid generalising all of them. Some are good people.

    • @edy1361
      @edy1361 8 месяцев назад

      @@jayjayn007 The majority are a nightmare to live near. Just because there are a small percentage of ok ones does not negate that fact. So what do you expect people to do? Get robbed five times then find a good one? Just better off keeping away from them, the majority can't stand us and are constantly ripping us off and have a complete disregard and disrespect for us. Your logic i akin to saying well not all sharks eat humans so swim with them cos there are some good ones. We just cannot generalise all sharks, because the Television says so. Once bitten twice shy, its a natural way of survival. It's nothing to do with surname, there are lots of English heritage travellers living on the same sites and they clash a lot with the ones of Irish origin for whatever reason. Better off just steer clear.

      Why can't it be your own community one thing I never get answered and you settled people will ever answer if a black man stole from ya would ya generalise black foke to all be thieves

    When we dig our way from the present to the past we must know that civilizations arise but also disappear according to a fixed pattern. Historians are walking in the dark because they ignore ancient knowledge that tell us that our planet Earth is suffering from a recurring disaster. These disasters are caused by the ninth planet in our solar system. They create a cycle of civilizations. Only one of them lives long enough to reach a very high level of skills and knowledge. They lived all over the world including on Lemuria in the Pacific ocean and on the isle of Atlantis. They knew about the next recurring, predictable but inescapable disaster. And they made all kind of big and solid constructions all over the world to tell us that they existed. Information about them must be hidden in several places. This high tech civilization disappeared 20,000 years ago. Then the cycle starts again with four less developed civilizations. To learn much more about planet 9, the recurring flood cycle, the rebirth of civilizations and its timeline, read the e-book: "Planet 9 = Nibiru". This book answers many of your questions about ancient history. It can be read on any computer, tablet or smartphone. Search: planet 9 roest.
